Breed history 

The history of the Maltichon is quite interesting because it is not the history of one dog, but two dogs. The Maltichon is a mixed breed dog, created by cross-breeding a Maltese with a Bichon Frise, hence the name- Maltichon. 

Both dogs, which are part of its creation, are both white and furry, hence the fluffiness and the color of the beautiful Maltichon, it looks like a white cotton ball. The first Maltichon litters are said to have been created in the United States, about 20 years ago

Temperament 

The Maltichon is a very active dog, they are friendly and they are often seen jumping around in glee, trying to get the attention of pretty much everyone around. 

The Maltichon although welcoming to strangers, they are also very clingy as they like to be snuggled, played with and held by their owner most of the time, they do not like the idea of being left alone for a while, and they might begin to act up if they feel ignored. 

This trait makes them jealous when the owner seems to be paying attention to another dog or a human. The Maltichon is an attention hugger and doesn’t like it so much when all that attention they desire is given to something or someone else, so they are bound to fight for it or throw a tantrum. 

Their active nature keeps them alert, so when there is something that doesn’t seem right to the Maltichon they bark to alert their owner.

Environment 

Because of the Maltichon’s temperament, they must be kept in an environment that is comfortable and away from sharp objects. Their love for activity needs them to be in an environment that allows it. 

A Maltichon is a home dog, it will do well inside the house, away from places where it could be harmed or get dirtied, as its color is white. 

They also need space as they are very active; this is because the Maltichon’s life is centered around being active and lively, anything outside that, or rather, anything or place that limits the Maltichon’s jumpy character is detrimental to the mental health of the Maltichon and may eventually hamper their proper growing process.

Exercise 

The Maltichon is already very active dogs as they are constantly bouncing and rolling all day, so not a lot of exercise is needed with a Maltichon, as their daily activities make up for most of the exercises you would have done with them anyway. You can for a few minutes’ walk or jog with them. A jog or walk of about 15 to 20 minutes works just fine for a Maltichon.

Grooming 

The Maltichon’s furry coat is soft and fluffy, makes it easier to wash, the groom. You might think that you need to wash a Maltichon regularly because it is white, but that will only make their skin dry, so leave the washing for when their coat is dirty. Clip nails and coats occasionally, and brush coat every day.
